Derek Fields is the Atlassian Practice Manager for the RightStar. He has over 5 years of experience as a Jira and Confluence administrator and teaches administration classes in all Atlassian products as well as teaching Git to software organizations new to the technology. Prior to joining RightStar, Derek spent over 20 years as a developer, software architect and project manager in the telecommunications industry. He has extensive experience with various SDLC systems and most major software languages and development environments. Derek has introduced several key DevOps principles to his software organizations, including Agile practices, continuous integration and deployment and software componentization. He has taught DevOps practices and introduces organizations to DevOps through the G2G3 DevOps simulation. Derek has achieved PMP certification as well as being a certified Scrum Master and has achieved Atlassian certifications in Agile for Jira and Jira Administration.
